Sad news, from actual scientists and The New York Times. You can't read at hyperspeed without losing comprehension.
There's something charmingly 1950s about the idea that reading is an inefficient process in the first place--all those eye movements! And there's something so typically human about the notion that we need to take a pleasurable cognitive task that involves imagination, empathy, and reflection, and make it more productive. Sigh.
We say, read slower. Enjoy what you read, remember it, discuss it. Embrace your fovea. Reading is beautiful alchemy. Dig it.
